SelfCare: The Structural Foundation of WellBeing

On Saturday, January 24th at 4:00 p.m., I had the honor of offering a conference to a wonderful group of women from Transforma Foundation in Tampa, Florida. The event took place at the elegant GBI Beauty venue, where we gathered for a meaningful session titled “SelfCare: The Structural Foundation of WellBeing.” This conference is part of my ongoing series, En Construcción… The Tour, dedicated to guiding women toward building their best and healthiest version.

From the moment the participants arrived, the atmosphere was warm, open, and filled with a genuine desire to learn, heal, and grow. As a clinical psychologist, I deeply value spaces where women feel safe to explore their inner world and reclaim their personal power.

One of the central messages of the conference was that selfcare is not a luxury, it is a conscious set of actions we take to preserve our physical, mental, emotional, and social health. We explored the idea that each of us is constantly evolving, always “under construction,” and that embracing this process is essential for wellbeing.

We discussed the importance of:
– Learning to say “no” without guilt
– Seeking help when loneliness becomes heavy
– Rejecting all forms of mental and physical abuse against women
–  Recognizing ourselves as works in progress deserving of compassion and protection

These themes resonated deeply with the group, sparking meaningful conversations and heartfelt reflections.

The conference unfolded in a highly interactive environment. Together, we explored practical tools to help women identify, confront, and break free from domestic violence.
The room held a powerful mix of vulnerability and strength as several participants shared personal testimonies of overcoming the cycle of abuse. Their stories were courageous reminders that healing is possible and that no woman should walk that journey alone.

As the session ended, more women expressed their appreciation, sharing how the conference had touched them, empowered them, and offered new perspectives on selfcare and personal boundaries. Their words reflected gratitude, hope, and a renewed commitment to their own wellbeing.

After the conference, the group enjoyed a lovely outdoor gathering where they shared refreshments, connected with one another, and participated in a raffle with several gifts.
The atmosphere was joyful and a celebratory, beautiful way to end an afternoon dedicated to growth and community.
This event with Transforma Foundation was a meaningful stop on En Construcción… The Tour, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to accompany
these women on their journey toward building healthier, stronger, and more empowered versions of themselves.
